Girls Swimming Team Concludes Season at State Meet
The St. Louis Park High School Girls' Swimming Team concluded the 2019 season at the Class A State Meet on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The team had a finals representative in four of the events including three individual events and one relay event.
Senior Hattie Kugler finished her high school swimming career on a high note as she placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke. After posting a time of 1:07.03 in the preliminary round, Kugler shaved more than a second off that time in the finals when she recorded a time of 1:05.89.
Senior Franny Bevell placed 14th in the 100-yard butterfly event with a finals time of 59.28 seconds. Junior Elizabeth Grassley placed 16th in the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:23.53.
Bevell and Kugler teamed up with junior Grace Loveland and sophomore Tenzin Dedhen to take 14th place in the 200-yard medley relay.
The team totaled 27 points and finished in 21st place out of 47 teams.
