March 16 COVID-19 Update to All Families

Dear St. Louis Park Public Schools Parents & Guardians:

We are writing tonight with an update on the school district’s response to COVID-19.

As previously communicated, St. Louis Park Public Schools will be closed March 17 through March 27. District teachers and staff are currently preparing plans to provide distance learning in the event schools are still closed after we return from Spring Break on Monday, April 6.

Free Meals for Students

The School Nutrition Department will be offering “grab-and-go” meals for children 18 and under while schools are closed due to the spread of COVID-19. Meals can be picked up at any of our six schools as well as Central Community Center between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Daily, students and families will be able to pick up bag lunches as well as a bag breakfast meal for the following morning. Peanut-free options will be available. Meals will include a protein, a grain, a fruit, a vegetable and a drink. Questions? Call the School Nutrition Department at 952-928-6146.

School-age Care for Children of Emergency Workers

If you are an emergency worker responding to the COVID-19 health crisis and in need of childcare during this time, please complete THIS FORM and we will send you more detailed information about how to access childcare (this includes St. Louis Park Public Schools Teachers and Staff Members). There is no cost for childcare services during normal school hours.

Where Do I Go for Emergency Childcare?

If your child is currently a Kids Place participant, continue to bring them to their current site/classroom.

If your child is not currently a Kids Place participant, bring them to:

  • Grades K-5 -- the school they currently attend
  • Preschoolers ages 33 months to 5 years - Central Community Center
  • Grades 6-7 (children ages 12 and under) - Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School

This service will be free during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Extended day before school care hours are 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Cost $12/day 

Extended day after school care hours are 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cost $12/day

All students in Grades 3-12 who had a home technology need were sent home with a Chromebook today (March 16, 2020) to prepare them for distance learning. If parents/guardians have any challenges using the technology or the applications at home, please call the Media Specialist (listed below) at your child’s school:
