The School Board unanimously approved the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan for Racial Equity Transformation at its Monday, March 8 meeting. Ramadan Mubarak to all of our Muslim students and their families. May this Ramadan bring everyone health, wealth and peace! As an educational leader and human being, I need to voice my sadness, anger and frustration regarding the death of Daunte Wright. This is just the latest event that has left our Black, Brown indigenous, and Asian friends hurting. I shared my thoughts and feelings with students, families and the school team in my Virtual Morning Announcement yesterday. My hope is that as we navigate these difficult times, we can all grow to become people who value ourselves and see the full humanity in each other.
Starting February 1, students in grades K-5 who are learning in-person can pick up a free bag breakfast in the morning. The COVID-19 global pandemic is an unprecedented challenge, which can cause increased worry, stress, anxiety, and confusion for students and adults. During this time of Distance Learning, school counselors, psychologists, social workers and multicultural liaisons are available as resources to families.
We are celebrating St. Louis Park as we begin the 2019-20 school year! A special thanks to 2015 graduate Malik Augustus, who shared his voice to help us tell the story of how this community continues to put its Children First.
