Cory Litzow Lorentz Named Recipient of 2021 SLP Human Rights Award

Cory Litzow Lorentz, a Multilingual Learners Teacher at St. Louis Park High School, will be the recipient of the St. Louis Park Human Rights Commission's 2021 Human Rights Award. Cory will be formally presented with this honor at an upcoming City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. on June 20 at St. Louis Park City Hall.

The Human Rights Award recognizes individuals, groups, organizations or businesses that have made an outstanding contribution toward increasing understanding and cooperation between people of different backgrounds in St. Louis Park.

In an email to Litzow Lorentz, who has taught in St. Louis Park since 2005, The Human Rights Commission made the following comments: "We were told of your remarkable dedication to the welfare and success of your students, making the high school and St. Louis Park community a much more welcoming place for immigrants, who also happen to be mostly students of color. We commend you on your commitment to establish and sustain personal relationships that foster the best learning environment possible. Thank you for empowering your students by helping them to realize that they have a voice and can advocate for themselves in meaningful ways."
