Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA)

MCA Science

Understanding the 2025 MCA Science Results

In 2025, Minnesota introduced a new version of the statewide science assessment, called MCA-IV. This updated test replaces the previous MCA-III science assessment and is designed to better align with Minnesota’s current science standards and modern approaches to science learning.

Because this is a new assessment with updated questions and scoring, 2025 science results cannot be directly compared to results from prior years. The 2025 data should be viewed as a new baseline that will be used to measure student progress in future years.

Sharing the results from 2025 helps our community understand how students performed on the new assessment and provides a starting point for tracking growth moving forward.

MCA Science is tested in 5th and 8th grade, as well as during high school.

MCA Math

MCA Math results provide important information that helps educators identify strengths, address learning gaps, and ensure students are prepared for future coursework and career opportunities that require strong math skills.

While no single test captures everything a student knows or can do, MCA results are one important measure used to guide instruction and support student success.
