Candidate Information

The board is the governing body responsible for setting direction and providing support for quality educational opportunities for all students served by the St. Louis Park School District. The board of is made up of seven school district residents elected at-large to serve terms of four years.

Members of the board are responsible for:

providing resources necessary to pursue its goals according to its policies, and
monitoring the district performance to see that results are consistent with goals and policies.

Candidate Requirements

Any person may be a candidate for a school board if they are:

Eligible to vote in Minnesota
At least 21 years old upon assuming office
Not a candidate for another office in the upcoming election
A St. Louis Park school district resident at least 30 days before the general election
Must have not been convicted of an offense for which they are required to register as a predatory offender under Minnesota Statutes 243.166

How to File for Office

The filing period opens July 29, 2025. To file for office, you must:

Complete an affidavit of candidacy
Pay the $2 filing fee

These requirements must be fulfilled during the filing period from July 29 to Aug. 12, 2025.

Withdrawing Your Candidate Filing

Candidates are allowed to withdraw their filing and remove their name from a ballot during the withdrawal period. The withdrawal period is August 13 and 14, 2025, by 5 p.m. Candidates must withdraw with the office at which they filed their affidavit of candidacy. Once the withdrawal period has ended, a candidate’s name can't be removed from a ballot.
